Chowrasia, Kapur tied 22nd after Rd1 of Scandinavian Masters

Stockholm, July 23, 2010: SSP Chowrasia and Shiv Kapur carded identical one-under 71s to be tied 22nd after the opening round of the Nordea Scandinavian Masters golf tournament here.

Both Chowrasia and Kapur picked up three birdies against a couple of bogeys each.

A 10th tee starter, Chowrasia completed his first nine even-par after his birdie on the 12th was negated by a dropped shot on the 14th.

But he managed to end the day one-under after slotting two birdies against a bogey.

Kapur, on the hand, made amends for a front nine slump in his flawless back-nine.

After back-to-back bogeys on the sixth and seventh, Kapur found his first birdie on the ninth to make the turn one-over.

On his way back, Kapur gained strokes on the 10th and 15th to round off a reasonably good day.

The third Indian in fray, Jyoti Randhawa, also a 10th tee starter, withdrew from the field after going six-over in his first nine itself.

Jeev tied 37th, Atwal tied 51st after Rd1 of Canadian Open

Ontario, July 23, 2010: Jeev Milkha Singh carded a steady two-under 68 for a share of the 37th spot while Arjun Atwal turned in a 69 for the tied 51st spot after the opening round of the RBC Canadian Open golf tournament here.

Jeev slotted four birdies against a couple of bogeys, while Atwal managed three birdies against two dropped shots.

It was not the best of starts for Jeev as he stumbled to a bogey on the second but the Chandigarh golfer made amends with back-to-back birdies on the fourth and fifth holes to make the turn one-under.

On his way back, Jeev picked up two more shots on the 12th and 17th holes before dropping a stroke on the 18th.

Meanwhile, Atwal, a 10th tee starter, made up for a rather subdued back-nine by playing out a flawless front nine studded with two birdies.

The Orlando-based golfer’s back-nine was a slightly disappointing affair as he managed just one birdie against two bogeys.

At the top, American Brent Delahoussaye took a two-stroke lead with a sensational eight-under 62. Delahoussaye’s compatriots Vance Veazey and Brock Mackenzie followed him a couple of strokes behind at the tied second spot.
