Shin finished two shots ahead of Hull, and three clear of SBS Open winner Angela Stanford (New 2009 Pro V1), Angela Park (Pro V1) and Paula Creamer (Bridgestone Precept Lady IQ), who tied for third at 8-under 280.

Shin, who is playing in her rookie season on the LPGA Tour, won her first major championship at last year's Women’s British Open, and added late-season victories at the Mizuno Classic and ADT Championship. She also won seven times on the Korea LPGA and once on the Japanese tour.

NATIONWIDE TOUR: Playing on a sponsor's exemption, New Zealand’s Steve Alker (TaylorMade TP Red LDP) closed with his second straight 5-under 67 to capture the New Zealand PGA Championship, an event co-sponsored with the Australasian tour. The 37-year-old posted a 15-under 273 total, two strokes better than fellow countrymen Josh Geary (Pro V1x, 905R driver, 906 F4 fairway metal, 695 CB irons, Vokey Design pitching and sand wedges, Vokey Spin Milled lob wedge, Scotty Cameron Futura putter) and David Smail (Pro V1x, 909D2 driver, 909 F2 fairway metal, ZB Forged irons, Vokey Design pitching and sand wedges, Vokey Spin Milled lob wedge), who tied for second place. Australia’s Michael Sim (New 2009 Pro V1x, 905R driver, 906F2 3-wood, AP2 irons, Vokey Design pitching, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Xperimental putter) was among three players who tied for 4th place at 12-under 276. It was Sim's second Top-5 finish in as many weeks.

Alker’s win, which earned him full Nationwide Tour status for the remainder of the season, came seven years after his first Nationwide win in the 2002 Louisiana Open.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship with 109 players (70%), compared to 16 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also first in iron sets (45), wedges (144) and putters (48) and second in drivers (40).

RAC Black TP Review .... by Anahita Fatehpuria

Are your bunker shots giving you too much trouble? Or are you simply having problems controlling the speed of the ball? Or is it that hitting different types of shots with your sandwedge seems a bit too risky? Then I guess the perfect solution to all these problems is the new RAC BLACK TP, a 56 degree with a dynamic gold wedge flex shaft made up of steel(also responsible for its stability),having a bounce of 12 degree. Moreover, its Taylormade TGT wedge grip simply gives you a brilliant feel ,especially during impact, also helping you to hit the ball with extreme comfort and  ease.

This improves your connectivity with the ball also to a great extent.Another distinctive feature of this club is its club face which is designed in such a manner that simply by opening or closing the club face a bit one can easily hit a variety of high, low or soft chips. The same goes with your bunker shots.Talking about the club face ,well another unique thing about its clubface is that it has a beautiful, dark finish which reduces glare and this in turn prevents distraction or disturbance.

Using this club has completely boosted up my short game and has brought some amount of versatility in my chips and pitches too.Overall It has given me the freedom to try out different types shots .But i guess the 'icing on the cake' is that this club can be used not only as a sandwedge but also as a lob wedge by simply opening up the clubface a bit.Though i wouldn't recommend this club for beginners and children ,it can be used both by ladies and men.

This week we have an equipment review by one of our junior golfers ...

Review - Callaway Fusion FT-3 by Parthsarathi Trivedi

Alright, now this new driver from Callaway sounds a lot like the name of a fighter jet, and well performance wise this club behaves like one too. The head is made up of a carbon composite body, which makes it look really sweet but makes it fragile. The ultra-hot titanium cup face offers better ball dispersion than before, and one can easily notice the difference in the trajectory of the golf ball when using this driver. The shafts available for this club are as follows:

Callaway Golf Fusion NVS shaft from Aldila
Aldila NVS -Stock Shaft- FT-3 Tour
Aldila NV
Aldila NVS
Aldila VS Proto
Fujikura Fit On! SIX
Fujikura Speeder
Fujikura Vista Pro
Grafalloy Blue
Grafalloy Pro Launch Blue
Grafalloy ProLite 3.5
Graphite Design YS
Mitsubishi Bassara
Mitsubishi Diamana
UST Proforce
UST Proforce V2

I have the Aldila Golf Fusion NVS shaft fitted on my driver. Along with a stiff shaft and a 9 degree loft, this driver has really boosted the length of my drives, without compromising for accuracy. The only thing with this driver is that it is really diificult to control, unless you are used to other drivers with similar weight shifting technology. Be sure to specify the weight configuration for this driver when purchasing it. I would recommend the neutral configuration, as it is the most stable. I have summarised the review below. This club is best suited for people who enjoy hitting the ball long, and straight at the same time. I would not recommend this club for beginners.

PROS- SUPERB ACCURACY, GOOD BALL TRAJECTORY, IMPROVED DISTANCE

CONS- GRIP CAN GET A BIT SLIPPERY SOMETIMES

The New Titleist Driver

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cleveland HiBore Driver

HiBore does not have low ball speed. It's really right there, middle of the pack for modern drivers. It's not going to generate the ball speeds of R7 460 Tour or FT-3 Tour Issue for sure, but it's not a dog in the ball speed department. It's Cleveland's first venture into alternate geometry design and I think it's a good golf club for the guys who it fits. HiBore is DEAD accurate, and true it's not the longest driver on Tour for sure, but some players are willing to give up 10 yards to hit 10% more fairways.

As for Toms, he is really optomized with launch and spin with his Comp. He has no reason to change drivers because the one he plays has very near absolutely optimal launch conditions for his game. He knows the driver, he trusts the driver, and it suits him very well. He simply has no reason to switch.

Vijay has struggled all year. He switches heads and shafts on a weekly basis. He is hooking the ball again and his swing is dead flat from where it was two years ago. His swing, his accuracy, and his putting can all abandon him on any given week. It's a testament to his sheer work ethic and talent that he competes and wins occasionally. The driver head isn't the fault of Vijay's problems or he wouldn't switch shafts in his Comp head every week either. He has played at least 3 different lengths of shaft in the Comp, at least 3 different lofts, and at least SEVEN different shafts in that head in competition this year. It's not HiBore's fault he can't hit fairways and is missing left again.

The New Ping Driver Rapture        The New Ping S58 Irons

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Odyssey White Steel Tri-Ball SRT Putter

There is a greater variety of putters on the market than any other piece of golf equipment. So choosing the right one could be a tough choice !!. There's only one foolproof way to do it: Try as many different putters as you can get your hands on , because in the end , its all about the feel .. in saying so, today we have for you the Odyssey White Steel Tri-Ball SRT Putter.

Have you ever looked down at the top of an Odyssey 2-Ball Putter and thought, “I wish there were three ‘balls’ on the top of my putter?”  If you have, then the White Steel Tri-Ball SRT Putter might just be the perfect choice for you.

There are two obvious differences between the White Steel Tri-Ball SRT Putter and all the 2-Ball versions , and both really stand out … First , the Tri-Call has three alignment disks, or “balls” on the top of the putter head , instead of two.

The second difference is just a big – the “SRT” in the Tri-Ball’s name stands for “Saturn Ring Technology” and is a large alloy ring around the back of the putter head. The result of the SRT is a center of gravity very deep and far removed from the face. The MOI, Callaway says, is “so high it all but eliminates twisting during the stroke and at impact”

The Odyssey White Steel Tri-Ball SRT Putter is face balanced, has a half-shaft offset and is available in both right-and left-handed models in 33-, 34-, 35- and 36-inch lengths.

The New Taylor Made TP Ball

The ball will be debuted at the Masters and SERGIO will have it in play. The ball speed, aerodynamic stability, durability, feel, and spin control is said to be competitive or beyond ANY ball on the market. The ball speeds are 4mph FASTER than ProV1x.

This project has been in development for 4 years, and Taylor Made feels the ball is SO good, that they have decided to use the Taylor Made's TP name on it.

Red is a little softer and a little lower flying. Black, is a bit firmer, fl
ies a bit higher and will spin a bit more. Sergio is playing the RED.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The New Callaway X18 Driver

The Callaway X-18 Driver has a strong ballistic trajectory due to its sole which has a high moment of inertia and head volume of 460cc. It distributes weight to increase the strength. Also, it is forgivable during mishits due to the head's stabilization at impact.

After impact, the ball's initial speed is increased due to the face material and deep face design. And promotes an ideal spin from the low center-of-gravity design of the carbon crown. This is attained by using the carbon material on the crown, which is lighter in comparison to the titanium body.

What is your preferred golf equipment ???

Kanishk Tulsyan (Kolkata): I have just bought a Taylor Made, TP set of irons. I was playing with a set of Ping eye 2 before. I find these clubs are very easy to work. They are pretty easy to hit too as they are semi blades. I think they are a perfect combination of both traditional and modern design put in one. I will highly recommend these irons, the only draw back is the price, I feel they are too expensive compared to other manufacturers.

Akshay Butta (Kolkata): I just bought a Titleist Vokey spin mill and wedge. It is awesome and spins more than any other wedge I have played. These are the best wedges that have ever been made.

Hari Kumar Rajah (Chennai): I tried the PRGR driver, it is a fantastic club. I feel I have gained over 20 yards since I started using it. I like the design as its not very big yet it is forgiving.

Siddharth Nag (Kolkata): I had bought a Cleveland Launcher driver, it's a great club and I hit it very well. The driver broke unfortunately during normal course of play within one month of play.

Mohnish Advani (Pune): I just shifted from the Ping Si3 to the Titleist 983 k driver. I've added about 25 yards and i think I've made a smart change. Great club, I would definitely  recommend it.

Simran Sethi (Chandigarh): PRGR driving iron. It's the best golf club ever designed I feel. It has awesome distance and accuracy. I like it because it is great out of trouble and also flies well from tall grass. Its tough to get but if you get, one grab it.

Varun Sahay (Kolkata): I used to play a srixon driver and since I switched to the Erc fusion I have started hitting it a good 25 yards longer. The driver has an amazing spring action at impact and has great feel.

CALLAWAY 3- WOODS -  Most popular amongst Indian professionals

Equipment today plays an important part in the game and most of our professional golfers are quite choosy about what they use. While some of the caddy professionals do not have much of a choice, the Asian PGA tour players are making an effort to tie up with manufacturers abroad and get equipment and accessories sponsored for their use since it amounts to a neat sum for their regular supply.

This is in turn beneficial for the IPGA players who do not get to travel outside the country, as some of the clubs get shared or passed on to them for use.

However, even though professionals tie up with a certain manufacturer whose product they like, most of them pick and choose woods and putters to suit their game.

We took a look at what the Indian professionals carry in their bags and found that the most consistent product was a Callaway 3-wood that they never leave town without.

ARJUN SINGH: The Delhi based golfer has made some news with the length his ERCII driver has added to his game.
3-wood: Callaway 3+ (13 degrees), True Temper EI 70 graphite stiff, mid-flex point
4-wood: optional, depending on the course layout. If he does carry one, it is also a Callaway.
5-wood: None of the golfers carry a 5-wood, as the four wood is sufficient and the extra wedges they carry account for the 14 clubs a golfer is allowed to carry in his bag during play.
Irons: Ping i3
Wedges: Cleveland
Ball: ProV1 Titliest
Putter: He shifts between a Ping or Odyssey putter, depending on the greens he is scheduled to play and his stroke.

JEEV MILKHA SINGH:
Driver: Mizuno MS300
3-wood: A Taylor Made nine degree loft head, this wood is like a mini driver and Jeev initially used it as a driver. A metallic blue club, he considers it an important part of his equipment. He never takes it out of his bag and has been using it ever since he started playing professional golf. One could say he can’t do without it.
4-wood: Callaway
Irons:  Mizuno T-zoid
Ball: Titliest ProVI
Putter: Titliest Scotty Cameron Del Mar 2

JYOTI RANDHAWA:
Driver: Ping ISI
3-wood: Callaway
Irons: Recently shifted to Callaway from Mizuno
Wedges: Cleveland
Ball: Maxfli Revolution 100
Putter: Ping Zing 2

ARJUN ATWAL: Recently singed a contract with Ping to play their clubs. Amongst the few Indian professional golfers to have this privilege, he actually gets paid to use them.
Driver: Ping
3-wood: Ping
5-wood: Like most other professionals, he does not carry a 5-wood.
Irons: Ping
Wedges: Titliest Vokey
Ball: ProVI
Putter: Ping Anser 2

GAURAV GHEI:
Driver: Ping
3-wood: Callaway
5-wood: Since a three iron provides the same distance, the 5-wood is often left out.
Irons: Ping Zing 2
Wedges: Cleveland
Ball: Maxfli Revolution 100
Putter: Amongst the best and most consistent putters in the country, Gaurav is loyal to his Ping Anser.

VIVEK BHANDARI:
Driver
: Ping
3-wood: Callaway
4-wood
: Callaway optional
Irons: Ping i3 oversize
Wedges: Cleveland
Ball: Maxfli Revolution 100
Putter: Odyssey or Ping

AMANDEEP JOHL:
Driver: A shiny black Cleveland driver acquired from Vijay Singh is his prize possession. The Chandigarh golfer has missed few fairways after he received this gift during the Wills Indian Open in March this year and even finished a creditable third at the Maekyung LG Fashion Open in Seoul.
3-wood: Callaway
4-wood: Callaway
Irons: Wilson
Wedges: Titliest Vokey
Ball: ProV1 Titliest
Putter: Ping B90 Broomstick 48 inches

HARMEET KAHLON:
Driver: Ping
3-wood: Callaway
4-wood:  Rarely carries a 4-wood, most of the time he’s without one.
Irons: Harmeet recently shifted to the Ben Hogan Apex Edge Plus
Wedges: Cleveland
Ball: Maxfli Revolution 100
Putter: Ping Anser 2i

AMRITINDER SINGH:
Driver: Changes drivers often but sticks to three choices - Taylor Made, Ping or Callaway
3-wood: Callaway
4-wood: Callaway
Irons: Mizuno T-zoid Comp Ez
Wedges: Mizuno
Ball: Maxfli Revolution 100
Putter: The same is with the putter and he alternates between the Odyssey, Never Compromise and recently shifted to the Ping B90 broomstick 44 inches

UTTAM SINGH MUNDY:
Driver: Ping
3-wood: Wilson
5-wood: He too does not favour a 5-wood
Irons: Hogan Apex Plus
Wedges: Hogan
Ball: Strata (Top Flite)
Putter: Ping Zing 2

INDRAJIT BHALOTIA: one of the longest hitters on tour, this Calcutta based golfer is also this year’s putter of the year.
Driver: PRGR
3-wood: Callaway
4-wood: Callaway
Irons: Maxfli Revolution 100
Wedges: Cleveland
Ball: Maxfli Revolution 100
Putter: Broomstick

AMIT DUBE:
Driver: Ping
3-wood: Callaway
4-wood: Callaway
Irons: Hogan Apex Plus
Wedges: Cleveland
Ball: Maxfli Revolution 100
Putter: Ping

DIGVIJAY SINGH: A Callaway man through and through!
